In different ways, both pose the same question: who are we, really? When no two people can recall the simplest event in exactly the same way, whose voice can we trust? How do we balance truth with love, a half-remembered past with a repackaged present? That's what most of my characters are trying to deal with - sometimes making matters worse, at other times gaining unimagined rewards.
